If we name WhoMadeWho at the end of January 2022, almost everyone reading these lines will know which band we are talking about. Copenhagen-based jazz guitarist Jeppe Kjellberg, drummer Tomas Barfod and singer and bassist Tomas Høffding have been releasing records on the most prestigious labels on the electronic scene and performing at the most prestigious festivals and clubs in the world since the early years of this 21st century.
With a very personal style that mixes and mingles styles mercilessly, the Danes deliver a new remix of Silence & Secrets, the third advance single from their upcoming album. Produced with celebrated German artist and co-founder of Innervisions and part of Âme, Frank Wiedemann, Silence & Secrets follows the critically acclaimed release of Mermaids and Summer, the two previous singles which together with Silence & Secrets serve as a teaser for the legendary trio’s seventh album.
This time, the track is given a powerful remix by Adrian Schweizer and Adrian Shala, the Swiss duo from Zurich who are known worldwide as Adriatique.
Schweizer and Shala work the unique original track with layers of production that result in what they call a real missile for the dancefloor. A piercing bass that lifts you up and doesn’t let you fall, layers of analogue sounds and percussive base, the Swiss work meticulously with melody and textures. The Swiss’ emotional handling is one of the personal trademarks that have made them famous, and here they squeeze those qualities to the max to complete a remix that is probably the most impressive dance artefact of the year so far.
