A few weeks ago we presented the first EP of this Colombian artist, but in case anyone missed his presentation, we’re back to give you some facts about Kabinett. Nicolás Saavedra is the real name of a man with a few aliases, such as Nico Saav, NIco/Icarus! or the one that appears today in our virtual pages, Kabinett. He has as many aliases as he has occupations in the music world, stirring up the electronic scene in his hometown of Bogotá as a DJ and producer as well as acting as a promoter or as a label founder and boss. These achievements include his residency at the famous Kaputt club in the Colombian capital and the founding of Nomada Records.
As a producer he has been releasing since 2015, always within the parameters of House, as well as Disco, Nu-Disco and Electro Funk.
As we already mentioned, his prolific and quality production led the people of Internasjonal to project the release of two EP’s to bring a sample of his work.
On April 29th comes the second release titled RBot.
The title track opens the EP, with a looped pattern of analogue sound colliding with robotic and cosmic-sounding ones. All this leads to a space orgy for the dancefloor, with a certain melancholy in its main melody. Device is the next track, Dark Disco with vocal samples mercilessly destroyed by a vocoder that give a gloomy background to the track. Rise closes the EP with a more luminous and hopeful tone, although without disregarding a sonic density that is present throughout the EP.
We are not surprised that Nico’s work has aroused so much interest in Internasjonal to release two EPs. No doubt we will continue to hear his name in the near future.
