André Hommen – More Than This Remixes Pt. 2

André Hommen – More Than This Remixes Pt. 2

André Hommen is another of these artists who is amassing a series of really important achievements in the last decade. But let’s do a bit of history. A native of Nettetal, Germany, he himself says that he grew up musically glued to the radio, where he began to discover the music he loved. This happened when he was twelve or thirteen years old, and at the age of fourteen he started DJing with all the music he heard on the radio, first at home and later at parties in his region.

The next important step in his career is to be part of the creative and administrative team of Objektivity, the New York record label founded by Dennis Ferrer. There he learns musically and professionally, and there he releases his first track, Marashi in 2009. Since then, he has continued to release on the American label, as well as on other prestigious labels such as Poker Flat and Systematic, until February 2017, when he founded his own label, These Eyes. Established in Cologne and distributed by Kompakt Records, it opened its catalogue with André’s These Eyes EP, and in 2020 arrived his debut album, More Than This.

Full of that German House we love so much, sometimes leaning towards the more austere side of Deep, sometimes towards the best interpretation of Minimal, bordering on the most elegant Intelligent Techno, so was that debut album. Months after its release, two remixes of tracks from the album were released, by the master Robag Wruhme and the great Jonathan Kaspar. On April 15th More Than This Remixes Pt. 2 lands, with another truly impressive remix crew working on the Pantone track.

Starting with Italy’s Donato Dozzy, who delivers a remix with a tribal feel with deep bass drum and tropical sounding patterns that take you to the dancefloor in a smooth and gentle way. The second remix comes from someone who needs no introduction, a certain Michael Mayer… the Kompakt boss kicks off his remix with a powerful bassline, to which elements are added to form a trip with reminiscences of Rave in its melodic line.

To close the EP, the always interesting Spanish-German producer Manuel Tur offers a rework with a more intense density, a fair dose of darkness with a resounding bassline behind which vocal samples and delicate synthesised patterns accumulate.

André says of the new EP: “I’m super excited about the second round of remixes for my album. It’s a mix of three of my favourite producers and all-time heroes”.
