Strictly advert-free since its first broadcast in 2015, 1BTN has constantly delivered an incredibly diverse, eclectic and specialist music programme, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The station – available locally on 101.4FM and online worldwide at www.1btn.fm – is run by volunteers with around 150 presenters, producing over 120 new shows a month. Many of the presenters are from the local area but with an increasing number of established and well-known presenters, labels, and guests from around the world, including Tru Thoughts, FatCat Records, Inner Tribe Records, Our Starry Universe, Steve Spacek, Nat Birchall, The Illustrious Blacks, CoOp, Daz-I-Kue, Penelope Trappes, Amy Douglas, and Jennifer Touch.

Alongside regular hosts, guest presenters have included Fatboy Slim, Andrew Weatherall, Violet, Norman Jay, and Gilles Peterson, who said of 1BTN on his last visit, “I’ve been here a couple of times now and when I come down the stairs, I see the paraphernalia on the walls and the love that goes into it, and I know that the music is in a safe space.”
