Daniel Avery remixes Enfant Sauvage

Daniel Avery remixes Enfant Sauvage

It’s not all about dancing in this life. There is also room for music that, without taking us directly to the dancefloor, moves us as much or more than those tracks that make us sweat as the bass gets under our skin.

This is the case today. One of the most beautiful tracks we’ve heard in recent times, and if it was already beautiful in its original version, the remix makes it even better.

It couldn’t be otherwise when both the producer and the remixer are legends of recent electronic music. Enfant Sauvage is the solo project of Guillaume Alric, one half of the family duo The Blaze, who are as well known for their videos as for their music. Guillaume released his debut album, Petrichor, in the final stretch of 2021, with excellent reviews.

When we name the remixer, we are still talking about another important name in the last decade, who is a regular on Erol Alkan’s label, Phantasy Sound, and whose name is Daniel Avery.

Outstanding Bournemouth-born British producer Daniel Avery gets his hands on Enfant Sauvage’s 58500, the opening cut from his 2021 debut album Petrichor. The remix of this tunnel-visioned track highlights the inhuman but very human vocals of the original, gracefully delving into a mass of euphoric synths and two-step percussive grooves.

58500 becomes a more compact piece of music that continues to ascend towards the dazzling light that Avery has created. Gritty and direct from the outset, he subdues the melodies and submerges the undulating chord progression in a disguise of warm reverb and synth bass drones. A magical reimagining that gestures to the richness of the UK’s underground genres, while being utterly unique, and without fail a distinctive reworking by Daniel Avery.
