In these times when almost everything (and anything) is labelled as Techno, it is always so comforting to have a dose of quality Techno. Straight from Detroit, one of the masters, Robert Hood, resurrects an alias he started using last century. After tremendous releases as Floorplan with his daughter, Robert Hood brings us the announcement of a new EP and album as Monobox.

In 1996, and on his famous M-Plant label, Hood released his first album under this alias, a 12″ called Realm that laid the foundations for what a few years later was all the rage, Minimal Techno. A couple more EP’s came through his label until 2001 and the first album was Molecule, released in 2003. The following year, this first album received treatment in the form of remixes by big names such as Ricardo Villalobos, Matthew Dear or Akufen. He would not release anything as Monobox again until 2014 (the EP Film / Rectangle) and now we have had to wait until October 2021 to be able to return to the Detroit producer under this alias, which will once again see the light of day through M-Plant.

Forwardbase Kodai is the EP that will arrive on the 29th of this month, with three interpretations of the title track, the original version, a furious remix by Ashley Burchett, British producer better known as Ø [Phase] and a variation by Robert himself (Robert Hood Re-Plant). Closing the EP is Homestead, somewhat more experimental than the title track. A complete release of great Techno tunes from a true legend of the electronic music.

The record is full of the Detroit native’s personal stamp, and Monobox’s second album, Regenerate, will be released on 26 November. Here you can listen to some snippets from the EP and we´re looking forward to hear the new album.
