Moodmusic Records celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2021 and the birthday party is set to go on for a few months. A series of EP’s will be released to cap off the year and the celebrations with a big compilation at the end of the year.
And we say big because if the level of EP releases is anything like this first one, it’s sure to be one of the compilations of the year.
To kick things off we get This Side Of The Moog, by Mood Music owner Klas-Henrik Lindblad aka Sasse aka Freestyle Man. Under the latter alias he brings us this track, which was originally released in 2007 on Sunday Music, the label that Henrik Schwarz and Sasse himself founded in 2003. To remix it, they’ve called on the expertise of Berlin-based producer Aera, who has really spiced up the house of the original version, delivering a real dancefloor bomb.
The follow-up to the EP comes with Belvedere, another 2007 track that did make it to the shops via Mood Music, performed by Sasse and another Berlin-based Finn, Joakim Ijäs, better known in the electronic scene as Kiki. Who better than another good friend of the house to give it a new remix, and the chosen one has been Jepe, who lightens the original version with a treatment that balances between italo Disco and Balearic.
This quality and selection of the tracks for this first release (and the work on the remixes) only makes us wait for the next one. As always, the work done by Sasse and friends is simply brilliant, something that is essential to be able to celebrate twenty-five years as a record label, something that is not within everyone’s reach. Congratulations and many more to come!
