New EP from Big Miz on his own label

New EP from Big Miz on his own label

Just a few days ago we talked about another emerging Scottish artist, from a new batch that is pushing hard, with a raver and punk spirit that cheers up our ears without any shame whatsoever.

Chris McFarlane, born in Glasgow and better known as Big Miz, has been on the international electronic music scene for a few years now. In 2015 he began his career as a producer, and his progression has been so important that this past November, he played as a special guest at Fatboy Slim’s event in Glasgow.

Big Miz enters the new year with a powerful new release on his own label Miz Records. The Scotsman has created a new era for his label, having released his cult classics on labels such as Dixon Avenue Basement Jams, DJ Haus’ Soft Computing and Shall Not Fade, Flashbang EP brings five delicious dancefloor cuts destined to bring the heat.

Miz kicks off with an energetic first track: Flashbang, featuring TR-909 toms over a 4×4 drum groove with intricate variations, acid leads and a looping rave hook. It channels the warmth of the 90s house era with hip-house sampled vocals that bring a level of unadulterated sass. Connected is a continuation of the high-octane grooves, with punchy chord hooks and rolling drum machines all the way through.

Upping the tempo with Paradise of Normal, huge bass tones intersperse percussion and vocal samples for a futuristic mix of sound. With A Gun In Act 1, Miz shows a clear ability to introduce breaks into his tracks. Keeping things super homemade and consistent while adding touches of his breadth of influences.

Big Miz closes out this unbridled release with Club Beat 3, an acid house record that has its roots straight out of Chicago, Illinois. A night out and footwork material, Miz brings the sound via the Flashbang EP.
