From Scotland arrives one of the sensations of February. Specifically, on the 19th, the rework of How Much Are They? by Benjamin Fröhlich will be released by Optimo Music.
The name of the track will surely ring a bell for the more experienced readers, as it evokes the collision of stars that took place in 1981. Jah Wobble, in those days fresh from his PIL adventure, teams up with Can’s rhythm section, Krautrock legends Holger Czukay and Jaki Liebezeit.
Back in the day, the original release was a tremendous mix of Kosmische Musik and Dub, a psychedelic trip that immediately became a cult track.
In 2019, Benjamin Fröhlich’s reinterpretation appears on LAGASTA‘s 10th anniversary compilation. It now receives a well-deserved solo release. To accompany the superb version by German producer Andrew Meecham and Dean Meredith have momentarily resurrected Chicken Lips. Their remix is in line with their previous works, with undeniable psychedelic dub disco vibes. Finally, another illustrious German, Daniel Bortz, delivers us the second remix of the EP, with a percussion base that takes us back to days gone by.
A fantastic release, a must for this February and surely one of the EPs of the year.
