Iokasti Alimonos and Nektarios Meintanis are better known internationally as Jokasti & Nek, a sentimental and professional couple who live and breathe Techno in a very deep way.
Greeks, residents of a beautiful area in the south of their country, Kalamata, they return again to the label that released their debut (Alex Drove Us Home) back in 2017. Bas Mooy‘s label, Mord, that invincible stronghold of rough, raw and dense Techno, brings back the Hellenic duo to release an EP on vinyl and digital format with two bonus tracks.
We have to admit that, even though they are within the artistic line of the Rotterdam label, Jokasti & Nek mark differences with other references in Mord’s catalogue. The pair’s sounds enter into a more organic landscape and, while still intended to make dancefloors sweat, there is a careful and thoughtful sense of melody.
These appreciations are especially reflected in the two extra tracks of the digital edition, especially the one that closes the release, DHEA, where we are almost in front of a classic Minimal.
Joaskti & Nek have a fantastic live performance, and in the studio they leave works as meticulous as this Emmanuel EP, which, by the way, shows the chromosomal map of the couple’s son on its cover.
