In our first annual list, we had no choice but to declare the absolute triumph of the last EP of 2021 released on Tulpa Ovi. We had no choice as label boss Robag Wruhme‘s Avo Thal had us on continous play from the first time we heard it.
Nothing better to inaugurate the new year at the label than another release by the boss, the EP T.O.R.003, with another two tracks by the Weimar sound craftsman. The EP opens with Bortonkk_21, a track that begins with a resounding mid tempo kick drum that is soon joined by bleep decorations and percussive elements. Without realizing it, Robag once again immerses us in one of his particular worlds, where electronic hypnosis takes us, in this cut almost in a narcotic and emotional reverie mode, but always without abandoning the rhythm necessary for the dancefloor.
To complete the EP, Wruhme delivers Beta Gora, a track that doesn’t even reach four minutes but which condenses elements typical of that Warp Records sound of the nineties. Pure aroma of intelligent dance music, with syncopated rhythms and beautiful melodies seasoned with short flashes of processed vocals. Again, sonic neurosurgeon precision, dissecting layers without contemplation to leave us with another great release.
More clues to differentiate the greats from the average. All we have to do is listen to Robag Wruhme’s three EPs on Tulpa Ovi.In each of them, the German producer takes us to different territories, offers us different aromas and their common denominators are high quality and emotion.
Magnificent premiere of the year for this tireless worker of electronic emotion… Will we see a new album in 2022 to succeed the enormous Venq Tolep?
