Anton Kubikov was born in 1975 in Moscow. He started his career in 1994 playing at one of the first techno clubs in Moscow: the “Hermitage”. It was the time when club culture was developing rapidly in Moscow; he soon became a very popular figure in the city’s DJ scene, being constantly invited to perform at dance clubs such as “Treasure Island”, “Moby Dick”, “Ptyuch”, “Utopia”, “X-Dance” and others.

In 1995 he created his own radio show on Russia’s first FM dance radio station “Station”. Until its closure in 2001, “Station” (together with its non-commercial subsidiary “Substance”) was the only radio station in Russia dedicated exclusively to modern trends in electronic music. In 1997, Kubikov started to create his own tracks. In recent years, his projects SCSI-9, Multipliar, Hero City Movers, Snowboarder and Snooker Boy became very popular in Moscow’s underground electronic scene.

Since 2000 he has been playing his music live in Russia and Germany, where most of the public knows him as SCSI-9 and not as DJ Kubikov. He is still one of the most booked Russian DJs, well known by clubbers for his good taste and respected by his DJ friends for his original playing technique.

Anton Kubikov is a composer, producer, co-owner of the Pro-tez record label, DJ and a bit of a poet. His music has appeared on more than 90 releases on vinyl labels and digital compilations such as Kompakt, Fabric, Force Tracks, Trapez, Salo, MAYAK, Pro-tez, Nervmusic, Traum, Freizeitglauben, Heisenberg, with the Scsi-9 project, Multiplear Juras Lieturs and under his own name.

His DJ set always features high quality underground music and creates a unique atmosphere on the dancefloor.

Under his own name, Anton wrote Ambient, Dub Techno and House music, which can be heard on labels like Kompakt, his own Pro-tez, MAYAK, Elusive, etc. The alter ego of Juras Lietus was as a fully analogue modular project that represents Anton’s fascination for Techno and cool electronica.

As SCSI-9, Anton and Maxim Milyutenko have released over 50 records and 4 full-length albums and have become a pillar of the Kompakt Recordings family. Pro-Tez Records was established in 2005 together with Ed Vertov and Maxim Milyutenko. It was one of the first Russian vinyl record labels that gave a big boost to young electronic musicians from the former Soviet Union, and became part of the Kompakt Label distribution family.

Force X is out on 28 January via Sound of Berlin and will be available digitally on all streaming platforms.

The EP, titled Force X, consists of two mind-blowing tracks that showcase Kubikov’s signature sound that, if visualised, sounds like “two sides of the moon”. The title track is a piece of energetic, organic Techno that occasionally approaches Deep House in certain passages. Sad Mirror, the closing track of the EP, is a Minimal sound artifact with tons of elegance, with an absolutely narcotic rhythmic pattern that doesn’t let go of you on the dancefloor, and that could well remind some of Anton’s best moments on SCSI-9.

Without a doubt, Sound Of Berlin starts the year 2022 with one of the best EP’s in its history.
