At the 1051 Magazine office we are not very fond of end-of-year lists, but as this is our first 365 days of existence, we are going to go with the cliché but in our own way (like everything we do).
That’s why we’re going to make our own lists, the best tracks and the best albums (here we’ve also included what we used to call mini albums, or EP’s of at least five tracks).
In order not to bore people, we have reduced it to 15 positions for each category.
Today, from 15 to 11, and the following two weeks, the rest. We hope you like them as much as we have liked them.
TRACKS
15. RETZA – NENE
On the verge of his tenth anniversary as a producer, Feel EP is the new work of Australian producer Retza. From Melbourne, the DJ and producer caresses our ears with four Deep House tracks of extraordinary elegance and good taste, without losing sight of his main objective, the dancefloor. Nene is pure House of many carats, which brings back memories of those impressive Vladislav Delay records in his Luomo mode, with great emotional intensity. You can read the full review here
14. ROBERT DIETZ – WAW
Robert Dietz, despite being based in Berlin, is a natural son of that new Frankfurt sound full of waves of Techno and House. WAW completes this EP with a very dreamy inspiration, in the line of the previous track, with a tremendous elegance. Every release from Robert Dietz is an event to celebrate, and Schnups ephasn’t broken that rule. Full review here
13. HARALD BJÖRK – LUFTLUST (Justus Köhncke Remix)
When there are things to correct in life, they eat you up inside as time goes by and it doesn’t get done… “I decided to face the old ghost and make it real. The time was ripe for the re-release of Luftlust, on my terms on my own label Kranglan Broadcast.” (Harald Björk). And for the reissue we have the original version now remastered and corrected by Harald, the one that saw the light of day as the B-side of Brus and two remixes. One is by his compatriot Özgur Can, the second has fallen into the hands of one of the favourites at 1051 Magazine, the legendary Justus Köhncke.

11. AFFKT – HUMPERDOO (GusGus Nasty Disco Mix)
Marc Martinez aka AFFKT, founded Sincopat 11 years ago. Now they celebrate the hundreth release. Humperdoo is a track of great power in its original version, which shows the emotional control that Marc imprints on many of his tracks. GusGus delivers their Nasty Disco Mix, almost seven minutes of deconstruction in their own style, with a danceable maelstrom that may be one of their best remixes in recent times. An unbeatable gift for Sincopat’s anniversary. Read the review here
