January 30th has arrived with really sad breaking news. In a statement to NME, Sophie´s team has confirmed to the magazine the sad news. At 4.00 a.m., in Athens (Greece), the  34 year old artist lost her life in an accident, with no more details unveiled from the artist´s team. Born in Glasgow, Sophie Xeon has been based in Los Angeles for some time, but now she was living in the Greek town where she died this morning. One of the most interesting and prominent artist of her generation, her death is a great loss to the electronic music world. Just a few days ago arrived the release of an Autechre remix of her track BIPP, with the vinyl release in the shops on January 28th.

“It is with profound sadness that I have to inform you that musician and producer SOPHIE passed away this morning around 4am in Athens, where the artist had been living, following a sudden accident,” the statement reads.

“At this time respect and privacy for the family is our priority. We would also ask for respect for her fanbase, and to treat the private nature of this news with sensitivity.”
