Hugo Gruzman and James Lyell are the Australian duo Flight Facilities, who began their professional career back in 2009 when they made their first remixes for other artists.
Since then, their career has had an impressive progression, dedicating themselves to pampering Disco / House / Funk like few artists have done lately. Last November, Hugo and James released their second studio album, Forever, from which Heavy is extracted and today comes to us in the form of an EP with three great remixes.
The original, adorned by the delicate voice of Your Smith, receives three treatments of exquisite sonic reformation with the utmost respect for the original essence. First, Lyon-based Frenchman Bruno Boumendil, better known as Folamour, brings his signature disco touch to the original, with winds and silky danceable smoothness.
For the next two remixes, Flight Facilities turns to homegrown product… the first of which is commissioned from CC: DISCO!, the alias of Lisbon-based Aussie Courtney Clarke. In his Dub mix he minimalises the original, adding percussion lines and giving prominence to the original guitar riff in a work that leaves you nailed to the dancefloor in narcotic mode.
Closing the remixes is another Aussie, Harvey M, who in a short but intense performance puts the guitar and a classic but very effective rhythmic base as the starting point… very much in disco key. It should also be noted that this is the track that gives the most prominence to Your Smith’s original vocal track. Pure Disco Funk.
