Locked Groove – Nautiluss EP

Locked Groove – Nautiluss EP

Tim van de Meutter aka Locked Groove was born sometime in 1988 on the outskirts of Antwerp, Belgium, and his professional destiny was perhaps shaped by a professional DJ father who instilled in him a love of records and all things music. Already at an early age he received his first musical training, spending a year studying theory before he started practising his first instrument. A stint working in Antwerp’s leading record shop made him further define that professional destiny, discovering his love for vinyl.

A few years ago Tim van de Meutter already made his debut as Locked Groove, with his first EP Rooted on Scuba’s Hotflush label, which led to a slew of releases on different labels, including another four on Hotflush. This past July, we already brought his Cosmic Transition EP to 1051 Magazine, and now he brings us another EP with two tracks of intense musical quality.

Nautiluss is the title of the EP, which opens with the title track, a sonic journey between valleys that evokes rhythms and chords that could be found at a medium distance from the creations of Boards Of Canada and Autechre. In any case, it is a track of tremendous beauty with epic overtones that impresses calmness in its listening even though it has a hypnotic and constant rhythmic base.

The EP closes with Digital World, where Tim returns to high-paced rhythms, rhythmic bases, bass lines and captivating patterns intended to get human bodies sweating around a dancefloor.
