Rise 1969 & Tim-Sean-Lee – Magnetic Beast EP

Rise 1969 & Tim-Sean-Lee – Magnetic Beast EP

One of our favorite labels is still very active at the beginning of 2022. We are referring to Berlin’s Moodmusic Records, which is once again opening its doors to a family friend and Detroit Electro agitator in the German capital’s underground, Tim Sean-Lee. On this occasion, Tim initiates a connection with the Middle East, as his partner in this work is William Mahfoud, aka Rise 1969, DJ and producer from Beirut.

As we are told, this EP was born in Berlin during the clubbing lockdown of 2021. Magnetic Beast was the organic birth of Rise 1969’s AFAC artist residency and Tim Sean-Lee’s Eruption EP recording, which coincided under the tutelage of Blackhead Studio. An instant chemistry was born. Impressed by William’s dark and edgy sound design, Tim Sean-Lee equally impressed Rise with his infectious beats.

Out of that chemistry was born this tremendous Electro cannon of dark and infectious beats, which receives three remixes to complete this EP. The list of remixers begins with another Lebanese from Beirut, based in Dubai called Bachir Salloum, who tames the original to give it a House influence but respecting the density and darkness. For the second remix we travel to Portugal with another friend of the family, Joal, who deconstructs Magnetic Beast in a piece of proto-Techno with cosmic features and great originality.

To close the remix trio we return to Beirut with Polybot, the DJ and producer formerly known as MadChords who gives Electro Space treatment to the original track.

Another twist of Moodmusic for its catalog, nonconformist and without space for musical immobilism.
