Sound Of Berlin – two first releases

Sound Of Berlin – two first releases

The year 2018 saw the release of a documentary that was a great portrait of the Berlin underground scene. The documentary was called Sound Of Berlin, and in almost an hour of footage it included testimonies from people as interesting as Juan Atkins, Dimitri Hegemann (founder of Tresor), Dr. Motte (co-founder of Loveparade) and Mathias Kaden, among others. With a great soundtrack by another of its participants, Marc Houle, the documentary is almost obligatory for anyone who wants to get closer to the music scene in the German capital.

But time has passed and Sound Of Berlin has become something more. First it was a weekly radio show on FLuxFM and since the end of 2020, a record label.

In December last year, the Berlin-based Iranian DJ Namito launched the label with his Lonely Boy EP. The first track, Lonely Boy, in collaboration with Dan F, was recorded in Hong Kong, where Dan lives, and is a beautiful electronic journey with a start in Ambient territory that gradually introduces a rhythmic pulse. The second cut, Caracal, this time by Namito alone, is a tremendous bass discharge with an acid pattern and oriental elements. Purchase link here.

Just a couple of weeks ago, Sound Of Berlin released their second reference, this time by Ukrainian Alinka. Sunday Morning is the title of it, and is inspired by her days in Berlin and more specifically those Sunday mornings at the Panorama Bar. Classic techno with electro touches, forceful and focused on filling the dancefloor. The second track, 8 A.M., follows the pattern set by the first, another techno-inspired track. Here is the purchase link

After listening to these first two ep’s, we hope that Sound Of Berlin will continue to release more references with this great level of quality.
