At 1051 Magazine we love to discover those jewels that are created in the most different places of our planet. Today we go to the Colombian capital, Bogotá, to discover a young talent that is emerging strongly on the national scene.
Santiago Zaraza Martinez, better known as Lamediscos, was born 24 years ago in the city of Bogota, where he has grown up and is currently studying Law, apart from dedicating himself to music.
He declares himself an admirer of the UK Breaks scene and French electro, and says that as a DJ he admires Ben Ufo, but what is really true is that his work exudes a personal and non-transferable sound.
On this second release, Santiago seems to be settling his style. Cuentos de Ciudad opens with the track that has had us spellbound for weeks in the 1051 Magazine office. Bogotrap has nothing to do with that urban style, but rather seems to refer to the real meaning of the last part of the word, as it has a hypnotic rhythm that makes it almost impossible not to leave it on continuous play.
Another of the tracks we have been able to hear before its release, Calle 808, is another example of all of the above. This track receives a dub treatment from another producer and dj from Bogota, Vlad Kyteler, and another of the tracks on the EP, Carrera Circuito, is transformed by another countryman, Jaime Andrés aka Traxxgender.
Six tracks released by Raw Quarter, catalysts of the Colombian electronic music scene, where, as we can see, very interesting things are happening. We’ll be keeping a close eye on it all.
The EP will be released on May 28th, and you can pre-order it here.
